In 2019 I went on a journey through Europe for six months. For the first time ever, I was truly alone and independent- an adult woman making her own decisions and moving through the world all by herself. It was a life-changing experience (albeit a slow change): travelling and making my own way, coming to an understanding of what it means to be on my own.
During my journey I began to notice other women around me who were also by themselves- and I documented versions of them in my sketchbook.
